Erica Gonzalez
Erica graduated from Florida State University where she received a golf scholarship all four years. During her competitive career she won the Junior World Optimist, Doral Publix and Florida Women’s Championship. She was named South Florida’s Player of the Year her freshman year of high school where she shot a 69, 74 at the state championship and also was named Player of the Year her senior year averaging 35.7.
Since moving to Raleigh 8 months ago Erica was named Tri-9 Class 4A Women’s Coach of the Year. She was able to improve her team average by 14 shots to the year prior with the same 4 girls. Also, this past November Erica qualified for the LPGA Futures Tour 2011 Season and is sponsored by the Christian Blair clothing company.
Erica’s strength is her short game because she is very creative and has a great imagination around the greens. Erica worked in South Florida with the PGA Tour Academy and has great knowledge of the golf swing. She herself has worked with Jim Mclean, Charlie DeLucca, David Leadbetter, Martin Hall and many others. After 17 years experience she believes that there is not one “perfect” swing for everyone. Each person requires a different technique and has different strengths and weaknesses. She is very excited to work with new students whether they are just starting out or are ready to go to the next level. She is open to going out on the golf course with her students and seeing where their games can improve the most!
